A Vast World of Art Created by Small Bricks

An exhibition that breaks the boundary between play and art, “Brick Art Museum”

Opening December 24 at DUEX Hongdae Hall 2

The exhibition “Brick Art Museum,” which uses bricks as an artistic medium, opens in Hongdae, Seoul.

Composed of thousands and tens of thousands of bricks combined to depict people, architecture, animals, scenes from films and animation, and imagined worlds, Brick Art Museum highlights bricks not as simple toys but as a sculptural language and creative tool.

Like clay art that uses clay, or sand art that uses sand, brick art is a contemporary form of artistic expression that treats the material itself—bricks (LEGO)—as an artistic medium. While the act of stacking and assembling bricks begins as “play,” the exhibition demonstrates how the result can ultimately become a fully realized work of “art.”

The exhibition is broadly composed, ranging from small-scale pieces to large dioramas that fill entire spaces. Characters and iconic scenes from films and animation, world-famous architectural landmarks, moving moments from sports events, and homage works to master artists are reinterpreted by brick artists through the bricks’ distinctive structural aesthetics and fine details. Visitors naturally experience how diverse narratives and emotions can be expressed using the limited material of “bricks.”

This exhibition is open to visitors of all ages and offers an intuitive visual experience that can be enjoyed without language barriers, appealing not only to families but also to international tourists. Beyond the exhibition itself, visitors can extend the experience through brick-themed merchandise and four-cut photo content.

Brick Art Museum opens on December 24 and will be held as an open-run exhibition with no fixed closing date. Tickets are available through Naver Reservation and YES24.
